The substation side of fiber optic isolation cards typically requires a supply of 24VDC power to operate. The P31150 power supply converts 130VDC or 120VAC to 24VDC to power each slot in an SNC Lyte Lynx® P30069 12-Slot Card Shelf or a Teleline Isolator* 8-Slot Card Shelf.

This card is a half-size card that fits into the power supply compartment. It will provide sufficient 24VDC power (50 watts) for 12 SNC Lyte Lynx® or Teleline Isolator* fiber optic isolation cards (one full P30069 Lyte Lynx® card shelf). An LED on the outside of the P30069 Card Shelf and the Teleline Isolator* Card Shelf, when lighted, indicates 24VDC power is being supplied to the station side of each card (via the card shelf backplane). There are additional LED's on the power supply card handle, indicating input and output power are operational.

NOTE: “Full Size” vs. “Half Size” Power Supply Cards

“Half Size” Cards – These cards are used in the power supply compartment in the upper left corner of the SNC Lyte Lynx® 12-Slot Card Shelf and the Teleline Isolator* 8-Slot Card Shelf. Of the three “half size” card slots, only the outer positions (1 and 3) are used for power supply cards. The middle slot (slot 2) is used only for the P30073 24VDC battery backup card. One of the other slots is blocked and unavailable when the P30073 battery backup card is used.

“Full Size” Cards – These cards are designed for use in any slot in the SNC Lyte Lynx® 3-Slot Card Shelf. They may also be used in any of the “full size” card slots in the SNC Lyte Lynx® 12-Slot card shelf or in a Teleline Isolator* 8-Slot Card Shelf.

“Full standby” from multiple powering sources may be easily configured with these cards when using the SNC 12-slot shelf.

Battery Backup

Two 12 volt, rechargeable, sealed gel-cell batteries provide continuous, uninterrupted 24VDC power to the card shelf in the event of a power outage. The switch to backup power is automatic. Batteries are kept fully charged under normal operation by internal power supply cards or an external 24VDC power source.

SNC Lyte Lynx® 12-Slot Card Shelf

The SNC Lyte Lynx® 12-slot card shelf may be powered by 24VDC, 48VDC, 130VDC or 120VAC (50/60Hz) power. It will accept any two of these power sources at one time (one as primary power and another as secondary active backup power) to provide continuous operation in the event of the active source power supply card failure or its power source outage.

SNC Lyte Lynx® 3-Slot Card Shelf

Either of the full size internal power supply cards (130VDC P30078 or 48VDC P30079) may be used in any of the three card shelf slots. An external power supply may also be used.

SNC Lyte Lynx® 6-Slot Card Shelf

The SNC Lyte Lynx® 6-slot card shelf may be powered by 24VDC, 48VDC, 130VDC or 120VAC (50/60Hz) power. It will accept any two of these power sources at one time (one as primary power and another as secondary active backup power) to provide continuous operation in the event of the active source power supply card failure or its power source outage.
