Work Site: 101 W. Waukau Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54902

Pay: Starting at $16.93/hr.; after 31st actually worked day/completion of probationary period = $17.47/hr.; 6 month wage rate progression = $18.34/hr.; 12 month wage rate progression = $18.67/hr; 18 month wage rate progression = $18.99/hr.

Duration/Usual Hours Per Week: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours/week minimum

Shift/Work Days: First Shift. Monday-Friday. 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Overtime: Voluntary; for all hours worked in excess of eight(8) in any workday; for hours worked in excess of forty (40) in a workweek; or for Saturday work (typically 5 hour shifts if offered).

  • Perform various operations required to make skids, crates, and boxes for packing and shipping of finished transformers, components, vendor returns, machine and die parts. Cut dunnage materials as required.
  • Work from shipping schedules and established methods and procedures to determine wood cutting and assembly requirements. Use table saw, portable circular saw, automatic nailers and staplers, steel strapping tools, hoists, lift truck, tape measure, various sizes and lengths of lumber, and assorted nails in bulk and cartridges.
  • In accordance with shipping schedules, lay out lumber requirements and cut economical lengths and quantities. Remain cognizant of lumber stock levels and generate reorder requisitions. Measure items to be shipped, cut required amount of lumber and assemble skid, crate, or box. Place unit into box or skid or build around unit as appropriate. Cut and set in place an appropriate amount of blocking to insure safe transit. Add packing papers, cover with lid, nail down and/or apply steel strap as required. Occasionally use lift truck to transport material to weigh station, weigh and record, and transfer unit to staging or loading area. Perform an occasional carpentry assignment in and around the plant area, as assigned.

Experience & Qualifications

Over 9 months up to and including 12 months of shipping experience desired. Using ordinary arithmetic in decimals and fractions to lay out material required for crates, boxes, and skids. Judgment is required to economically utilize lumber, generate reorder requisitions, set up and operate equipment in accordance with established methods and procedures. Moderate physical effort required to perform assigned work equivalent to frequently lifting or moving average weight material. Continuous mental and visual attention required to perform assigned work. Valid driver’s license required.
